OUR MISSION
I was searching for a way to go abroad for two years. Parcours le Monde IDF was the missing piece that finally allowed me to do it!
OUR ACTIONS
Awareness-raisingWe facilitate awareness-raising workshops and information sessions for fewer opportunities youths and youth professionals. Our aim is to show that international mobility is open to all young people, regardless of their backgrounds.
Tailored mentorship
In order to remove barriers to living an experience abroad, we individually mentor young adults in finding a project, ensuring it goes well from beginning to end, and integrating it into their social and professional journey.
International projectsAs international programs are not always readily accessible to young people with fewer opportunities, we create opportunities abroad (internships, volunteering, youth exchanges, etc.) specifically adapted to their needs.
OUR RESULTS
We work with young adults the furthest placed from international mobility opportunities: 66% have little or no qualifications, 40% live in a priority district in Ile-de-France, 60% are NEET (not in education, employment or training). They are on average 22 years old.
Financial constraints, language barriers, lack of confidence – there are many reasons for a young adult facing exclusion not to travel abroad. Thanks to the remarkable courage and determination from our team and the young people themselves, over 100 succeed each year!
Our action is decisive in fewer opportunities youths going abroad. This field observation is corroborated by a 2017 INJEP study that highlights the necessity of support to overcome the obstacles linked to psychological and institutional mechanisms of poverty cycles.
OUR IMPACT
Capacity to adapt (98%), autonomy (88%), English (93%), teamwork (93%), public speaking (91%), initiative (91%), open-mindedness (98%), communication (95%) – these are but a few of the valuable and sought-after skills gained during an international mobility experience!
By helping them (re)gain their self-confidence, international mobility motivates fewer opportunity youths to break a pre-determined life path and pursue their desired jobs. Not only are they able to better identify new opportunities, they are more likely to go after them.
After their mobility, our beneficiaries quickly find employment (40%), training/studies (40%) or a voluntary program (20%) – proving that international mobility is an efficient tool for professional inclusion. Unsurprisingly, 91% claim it had a positive impact on their professional path.
My youth exchange experience allowed me to broaden my career prospects. Disheartened after months of struggling to find a job, the Parcours le Monde IDF team encouraged me to apply for a permanent position. And I got the job!
